Lucy’s guidance gave me back my life and my sanity!

When I decided to contact Lucy, my daughter was 6 months old and I was getting close to my return to full time work involving a commute to Dublin and I could see no way of managing this with how she was sleeping at the time. She was going to bed late and waking after only 1 or 2 hours of sleep which resulted in me having to take her into the bed in order for me to get any sleep at all. !

We had also allowed her to get into the habit of being held to sleep.

I also had a 5 year old child but despite having been through it before and everyone telling me it would get better I had lost all confidence and felt like I was in a fog and needed help.

I did some research online and came across the Sleep Matters website and believed that Lucy could help me with an approach I could follow.

After giving Lucy a brief outline of my daughter’s routine, she devised an easy to follow plan to tackle her issues.

The first week focused on completely changing her routine and adjusting her body clock and getting her to bed at the same time each night and waking her at the same time each morning while still allowing us to hold her to sleep and react this way if she woke. Within 2 nights she was sleeping soundly and even dropped her late bottle at 11pm without me having to wean her off it.

The next part of the plan was to teach her how to fall asleep on her own and comfort her in different ways but at no time did I have to leave her crying as this is not an approach I would have been able to follow.

Each stage of the plan worked without any hitches, maybe I was very lucky however after the 3 weeks I had a baby who was falling asleep on her own, sleeping for 12 hours and also napping during the day.

I can safely say that Lucy’s guidance gave me back my life and my sanity! Allowing me to have time with my other child and my husband and a full nights sleep.

My daughter is now 22 months old and I can honestly count on one hand the amount of nights where issues have arisen and they have all been down to illness, she continues to sleep soundly every night and nap during the day.
