I actually feel really emotional writing this, as 4 months ago I never would’ve believed we’d get to a point where our baby would fall asleep on his own and sleep through the night.
L is our first baby and we chose to breastfed on demand from day 1, little did I realise that over the months he would start to associate feeding and sleeping as one. He would feed every 1 to 2 hours through the night and would only sleep on me or attached to my breast. I could not lay him in his cot and naps would take place in a carrier and were no longer than 30 minutes in duration. At 6 months we reached a peak with L waking every 10 to 30mins for feeding or to be held. Needless to say both him and I were exhausted.
We reached out to Lucy, because after research I was not wanting to go down the controlled crying route, it just didn’t feel right for us as a family. After our call with Lucy I felt excited to begin sleep training, I knew it would be a journey and I knew we’d need to be strong and stick to the advice Lucy was giving. My husband led the charge on the first few nights and by night 3, L was falling asleep in his cot and I was popping in to do 3 x dream feeds throughout the night. Along the way we encountered – teething, virus, a reaction to an allergy, but fastforward 4 months we now find ourselves with a baby who falls asleep, needs no feeds, sleeps 7pm-6am and enjoys 2 x solid naps a day, and one rested Mummy <3
We can’t begin to thank Lucy enough for the weekly support, the advice and always making sure we felt comfortable with the tasks being set for that week. It’s been such an amazing experience watching L learn the art of sleep. We would highly recommend Lucy to anyone who is looking to conquer sleep issues in a really supportive, gentle approach.
