I contacted Lucy when my baby was 9 months old, he was sleeping well enough at night but was only managing to nap for 30 minutes at a time during the day and was having up to 4 naps with very little time in between them. This made it extremely difficult to get out and about and also to spend any time with my 2 year old. He was also frequently waking around 5am and having an really cranky hour before bedtime in the evening. Since he was able to self settle I was really at a loss as to how to help him extend his naps and get into a good day time routine. With Lucy’s guidance we worked on extending his wake times between naps and I saw an improvement within the first week where he started to have an hour long nap in the morning and the early wakings stopped. The time we spent working with Lucy wasn’t without its challenges as we had 2 bouts of illness, one being chicken pox but Lucy was very understanding and we worked our way through it. My little guy soon settled into a 2 nap routine and was in much better form throughout the day and in the evenings and sleeping well at night, going down at 7 and up around 6.30/7 am.
When I talked about my challenges with other people they always focused on the fact that he was sleeping at night and I should have been happy with that, but spending your days putting an older baby down for very short naps every 2 hours and then having them generally being in bad form for a lot of the day is just as exhausting as experiencing bad night time sleep. I would urge anybody having any and all types of sleep issues to contact Lucy for help. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner!
