Would highly recommend her to other parents of children who don’t sleep well

Our fantastic, bubbly daughter never slept well. From a little baby, right along up the way, she always had trouble sleeping, falling asleep, staying asleep, napping; and night-time was a disaster.  Initially, I made excuses: “She’s still so young”, “maybe she needs the comfort more than other babies”, “maybe she’s intolerant to something and that makes her uncomfortable and unable to sleep”, “maybe she’s teething”……

My husband and I debated whether to go to get help for our 2.5 year old daughter’s sleep problems. We considered it many times and then we changed our minds, hoping she would just grow out of it eventually. Sometimes, when we thought that there was a slight improvement, we would question everything : what she ate that day, what activities she did, whether she had napped or hadn’t napped, so on and so forth. However, she was never consistant, and although there were some reasonable nights, most nights were spent trying to get C back to sleep! Over and over again! She started the night being rocked and shushed to sleep , but in no time at all she was in our bed. In fact, we would have been happy if she had come in beside us and just slept, but she would continue to wake many times through the night, even in beside us! Sometimes she cried, and sometimes she would lie awake, tossing and turning and twitching.
We went down the route of food intolerance testing, osteopathy, craniosacral therapy, early day-time nap, late daytime nap, no daytime nap, putting her to bed early, putting her to bed late…. the list goes on. I don’t know what we didn’t try! The one thing I was adamant about, though, was not letting her cry-it-out.
We were slow to contact Lucy. Firstly, we wondered how someone could know our child more than we already do?! Then, we questionned the cost -what if it didn’t work?! Then we questionned what we would do if Lucy suggested something we didn’t agree with?!
In the end, we felt our little girl was chronically overtired and so were we, and we needed help. So, we went for it! I am so glad that we did, and just sorry we left it so long.
Lucy immediately identified a few areas that we needed to tweak, put a plan in place for us and we had to put aside 3-4 weeks to dedicate to C’s sleep. I was surprised at some of the suggestions, and really couldn’t envisage that C would be putting herself to sleep and sleeping through the night by the end of it, but we placed our trust in Lucy and hoped for the best. The best thing about the plan was that both parents were singing off the same hymn-sheet. The first ten days were the hardest, although, there was very, very little crying, if any – more protesting a little. That, in itself, surprised us the most! After that, the nights progressively got better. Now, after 4 weeks of this, we have a little girl who can get herself off to sleep and stay asleep throughout the night. Her form is much improved too, by day.
We are delighted we contacted Lucy, and would highly recommend her to other parents of children who don’t sleep well. She has a kind and caring but firm approach. I always thought a child didn’t need to learn how to sleep, but ours certainly did! Thank you Lucy!
