“I contacted Lucy in April to work with my husband and I and our twins around what I thought was the issue of transitioning to shorter nap times and nap changes in general. Lucy very kindly offered me a couple of ways of working around this and in the end I decided to go for the full consultation just in case I was underestimating what we needed. Was I glad we did!!!

Lucy reviewed our daily schedules (I have always been keen on schedules!) and although we had a reasonable one I felt that as the twins weren’t sleeping and napping consistently well that there must be something that could be adjusted, etc. That’s where our work started. Having looked at how things were Lucy made some really helpful suggestions and outlined some changes we could make to help the babies sleep better. I wanted to use a gradual retreat method which Lucy supported and we started it.

Over the next ten days Lucy and I spoke regularly and with her help we tweaked things further. I was prepared for things to get worse for a short time – which they did! After ten days, we came to the conclusion that the gradual retreat method really wasn’t working as my little girl was becoming increasingly resistant particularly to nap times and my little boy who had been a good sleeper was now not being so good! I was also aware that we weren’t being as consistent as we needed to be.

What I really appreciated with Lucy, other than her encouragement, was her flexibility around approaches when the first wasn’t working as well as we would have liked. We changed to a gentle timed interval way of working and within two days we saw a huge difference. We have gone from nap resistance and inconsistent naps and night wakings of 4 to 5 times a night to consistent naps and perhaps one soother run and night and sometimes none.

We will probably be moving to transitioning to one nap within the next month to six weeks and Lucy has given us some tools to make that transition as gentle as possible.

Whether you are a parent of multiples or single children I would highly recommend Lucy, she is utterly unfazed by anything sleep-related, she maintained a terrific sense of humour all the way though and she supported me through what had become a very challenging time with kindness and genuine concern.”
