We met Lucy for a consultation 5 weeks ago after I had come across a link to her website on Rollercoaster.ie At the time we were finding it increasingly difficult to get our little girl (just over 12 months) off for naps during the day – she would only sleep when walked in the buggy. Going to sleep at night was very unpredictable. She would only fall asleep on the bottle and would wake at least twice during the night. We needed to give her more milk to get her off to sleep again.
We found the consultation very interesting, we did not realise until speaking with Lucy that Muireann was overtired. Lucy talked us through what a routine for a 12-13 month old should be and also pinpointed specific areas we needed to work on with Muireann. None of what Lucy explained to us seemed too unrealistic, we needed to work on changing the bad habits we had developed. Having said that it was difficult the first few nights to get Muireann to fall asleep in her cot, but from the very first night she started to get a full nights sleep. It got easier each night for Muireann to fall asleep by herself. We had a similar experience with her daytime naps, but within 2-3 weeks putting her down for her nap became almost effortless. No more buggy!!!
In the 5 weeks since we have been following Lucy’s plan there have been days/nights when we felt where we regressed. Some of these we can’t explain while others we can put down to teething. We stuck with Lucy’s plan and we are certainly reaping the benefits: all Muireann’s naps are in her cot, she sleeps through the night and no longer needs a bottle at night. As Muireann is now getting plenty good quality sleep, she is an even happier and more energetic toddler. She does not get as frustrated when things don’t go her way and it is always a pleasure to go into her room to see her smiling and laughing after her long sleeps. As a stay at home mum I now find I have more structure in my day as we now have a predictable sleep pattern for Muireann. We also have more time to ourselves as Muireann is in bed nice and early. .
We would recommend Lucy to all parents experiencing sleep problems with their little ones. One of the great things about Lucy’s service is the level of support she gives – she was always available with advice and encouragement.
