Lucy wolfe has changed my life. I genuinely thought we would never be able to get a handle on my daughters sleep.

She has always been a dreadful sleeper, waking every hour on the house every single night for months and months on end.

When she was teething or sick it was worse, it could be every 10 minutes all night long. She was up for the day at 4am, exhausted and cranky from a terrible broken night sleep. She would stand up in the cot the minute we put her in screaming to be taken out, she would throw her soother at us in a rage at us trying to soothe her to sleep. I tried two previous sleep consultants with minimal success – they recommended a strict routine, set nap times, a blacked out room, no screen time….we tried it all and still she was up all night every night, split nights became unbearable where she was up for 2/3 hours crying and screaming to be picked up. I was in tears most days,  we had no quality of life as weekends were spent with me and my husband sleeping in shifts to get ready for the week ahead in work. Her appetite was dreadful. She has an underlying health condition which requires her to have a very strict diet, daily medication and supplements which must be taken to keep her healthy. This was a daily struggle and mealtimes often took up to 2hours which was frustrating and exhausting.

She was clingy cranky and difficult all of the time. We live in Dublin, and my family lives 4hrs drive away and we hadn’t brought our daughter there in 9 months as last time she was up all night and we were burnt out and exhausted when we got back. Our other child wasn’t getting the best version of mom & dad because we were running on fumes after less than 3hours sleep most nights of the previous 16 months.

I emailed lucy in tears and utter desperation late at night at the end of January. Lucy emailed me first thing the next morning, and we agreed to work together. Lucy assured me she could help us, she told us that all of the things we were experiencing were things she helped desperate parents with on a daily basis. Lucy had us fill out a very thorough deep dive into our daughters routine/habits/diet/sleep issues in order to put together a plan for our family. Lucy very much took the reins from day one and confidently explained the plan of action to us. Week one was hard, but against all odd we did see improvements within 4/5 days. Our daughter was still having a bottle middle of the night which lucy weaned her off in 3 days – I was very nervous of this, as due to her restricted diet I was afraid she might be hungry, but lucy assured me we could do this. I trusted her, and she was 100% right. Lucy advised tweaks around bedtime routine, changes to her bedroom layout and most importantly how to handle getting her to sleep and dealing with the nightwakes. I felt like Lucy was holding our hand as she guided us out of the black hole of exhausted….she gave detailed instruction on where to position ourselves while settling our daughter/ what to do & say / timelines to make changes etc and having everything written down in bitesize pieces was a godsend when you are too tired to think.

During our 7 weeks together, I kept a detailed sleep log and we had weekly catchups on zoom which were brilliant to ask questions/lucy to tweak the routine or move to the next stage of the plan. Lucy always kept in mind our worries and concerns of how we felt our daughter would react to different parts of the plan and we felt so supported throughout the process. Lucy is so knowledgeable about all aspects of sleep and looks at the childs sleep and overall happiness in a holistic way which is brilliant. Our child got sick twice (temperatures/ear infection / throat infection) and sleep was again difficult for a few days. Lucy assured us this was normal when I panicked all our progress was unravelling.

I cannot praise Lucy highly enough – I will be eternally grateful for her giving us our lives back, my husband and I generally get 7 hours sleep a night, our daughter generally sleeps 7.30 to 5.20 most nights. I have energy again, we are making plans for the summer ahead, we have visited my parents with her and she slept in an unfamiliar cot without issue. As well as the sleep, one of the biggest changes I am grateful for is her appetite – she is eating so much better for me, mealtimes are no longer a struggle. She is a happier child, more smiles than she ever had before as she is getting her sleep and our home is a million times better off since Lucy helped us.
