G started to show symptoms of silent reflux and milk protein intolerance when she was 4 weeks old. Her sleep was affected and most nights she would end up sleeping on me in our bed. We finally got her medical conditions managed with medication and formula by the time she was three month old, but at that stage, her sleep problems had spiraled downward. She had to be held for all of her naps and would wake up straight away if we tried to put her down. G needed to be fed, rocked, and bounced to sleep. She would wake up to 3 times per night and be awake for 1-3 hours at a time. I felt like all I did was try to get G to sleep, and it was not productive at all. Cry it out was not an option for us, so I didn’t know what to do.
After our Skype consultation, Lucy provided us with a plan that seemed very realistic and attainable. We started it that night, and within 3 nights, we were able to lay G down in her cot, and she fell asleep on her own with minimal fussing within 20 minutes! The first night wasn’t easy, and there were a few tears, but I knew that we would see results with the plan, and I was there with G through it all. G was only waking once in the night for a quick bottle within one week, and within a month, she was sleeping straight through, usually 12 hours at a time! Naps took a little longer to progress, but with Lucy’s support, tweaking of the plan to meet our needs, and consistency, G started to take 3 naps in her cot everyday.
G is now 15 months old, and continues to be an excellent sleeper. Bedtime is a pleasure; we put her down between 7 and 7:30 every evening and usually don’t hear a peep out of her until 12 hours later. Even with coughs and colds and teething, G is able to sleep through the night. We have the odd waking if we’re travelling, but we use the tools Lucy has taught us, and it’s usually sorted within a night.
I have sung Lucy’s praises to everyone who asks about G’s sleeping habits, and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. It wasn’t until G was sleeping well that I realized how much her sleep difficulties were affecting all of us. G, my husband, and I all became so much happier once we contacted Lucy!
